The former director of the extinct Revitalization Office for Institutional Communication and Marketing (GRECIMA), Manuel Rabelais, was confronted today, in court, with the fact that he is a partner in the company Interactive Multimédia, to whom the institution issued a “letter of comfort” to acquire foreign exchange with the National Bank of Angola (BNA), whose sum totaled around 98 million euros in losses to the State.
Interrogated at the instance of the auxiliary judge Pedro Fuantoni, at the reopening of the discussion and trial hearing at the Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court, for benefiting from a special forum – Secretary of the President of the Republic at the time of the facts -, Manuel Rabelais replied affirmatively that he is a partner in the company which benefited from GRECIMA support to the communication sector.
GRECIMA had only two employees, one of them Manuel Rabelais himself, but he was an occasional assistant and collaborator, Maria do Rosário Pedro de Morais, who sometimes even signed documents, even those addressed to the BNA, according to the judge’s finding Pedro Fuantoni, in the file.
