Africa: CAF president is away from football for 5 years

In a press release issued today 23, by FIFA, the current President of the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF), Ahmed Ahmed, is suspended from exercising any sporting activity for a period of five years.

The governing body of football in the world, accusing him of embezzling funds during his presidency at CAF.

The FIFA ethics committee also imposed a fine of 200,000 Swiss francs, equivalent to 185,000 euros.

Ahmed Ahmed will be replaced by the newly appointed interim president, following Ahmed’s positive Covid-19 test. However, the president of CEFOCA, Constant Omari, will see his term extended for a few months at CAF.
