Angola: Angola invests 5.7 million euros in jetty to facilitate fuel unloading

The jetty, located in Saco-Mar, municipality of Mocamedes, in Namibe, was inaugurated this Monday by the Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Diamantino Azevedo. The bridge will enable the operation of unloading infrastructures for gasoline, diesel, Jet-A1, and LPG vessels.

The Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas this Monday highlighted the importance of the new pier in the province of Namibe, budgeted at around seven million dollars, in the economic development of the southern region.

This terminal will help reduce the costs of receiving fuels, improve the security of these operations, and increase the stock capacity of fuels distributed in the area, as well as revitalize the Saco-Mar area.

At the inauguration ceremony, Diamantino Azevedo stated that the main purpose of the jetty is to ensure the discharge of fuel, namely diesel, gasoline, Jet A1, and LPG, independently from the minerals pier, ensuring speed and safety for the various operations involved in the process.

“This enterprise fills us with hope because we are aware of the impact of these products on the economic development of this region,” he said.

The project, which is part of Sonangol’s efforts to increase the amount of fuel available in Namibe and the southern region of the country, more specifically in the provinces of Cunene, Huíla, and Cuando Cubango, was built in nine months.

Diamantino Azevedo congratulated Sonangol for the quick completion and indicated that there are projects of this kind underway in other provinces of the country: “It is important to say that there are projects underway in the provinces of Moxico, Huíla and Lunda Sul that also aim to ensure the improvement of the distribution process fuel and consequently the supply of several locations in our country ”.

The jetty cost about seven million dollars and has a maximum capacity of 7000 tons per dead weight.
