Angola: Angolan Doctors’ Union gives the Ministry of Health three days to discuss the removal of the president

The Angolan Doctors’ Union (SMA) gave the Ministry of Health three days to sit at the same table with the organization with a view to finding a solution to the framework of doctor Adriano Manuel, president of the body, suspended for more than five months for reporting deaths at the David Bernardino Pediatric Hospital.

In July, Adriano Manuel reported the death of 19 children in the hospital’s emergency room, where he held the position of head of hospital infection control.

In the continuous act, he was removed.

Now, after the protest march held on Saturday, 19, in several cities, the union’s general secretary, Pedro da Rosa, says that “we gave the Ministry of Health an ultimatum so that in the period from the 21st to the 24th, we can be summoned to the negotiating table and we are waiting ”.

Da Rosa, who takes a positive view of the solidarity march held in Luanda, Benguela, Huambo, Bié, and Huila in favor of lifting the suspension of the president of the Angolan Doctors’ Union (SMA), reiterates that if the dialogue does not happen, The union is due to meet next January at a general meeting to take a position on other forms of pressure.

Adriano Manuel was removed from the hospital for reporting deaths.
