Angola: Lawyer denounces death threats in case involving General Dino Matross

Sebastião Assureira reveals false sentence in court where the daughter of former MPLA general secretary works

Former MPLA general secretary, party in power in Angola, and reserve general Julião Mateus Paulo “Dino Matross” is being accused of threatening the defense lawyer in the land lawsuit of the well-known Lar Patriota case in which the prosecutor is in dispute Lar Patriota and the Ana Ndengue Peasant Association, in Talatona.

Matross is also accused of being involved in creating a false sentence in a court where his own daughter works.

The general denies the charges.

The case goes back to 2002, “Dino Matross”, then general secretary of the MPLA, mediated the negotiations for the acquisition of these lands.

The case remains unresolved and defense lawyer Sebastião Assureira accuses “Dino Matross” of being involved in the creation of a false sentence from the 1st section of the Provincial Court of Luanda where his own daughter works.

“It is a sentence full of vices that lead to the annulment of the sentence itself and one of the serious vices is the lack of the judge’s signature, a sentence elaborated in the 1st section where General Dino Matross’s daughter works”, underlines Assureira.

The lawyer, who had been arrested in August for alleged “Dino Matross” orders, says he fears for his life because “the death threats against me continue, with a view to abandoning the peasants’ case but I will not abandon it”.

VOA contacted Dino Matross, who, without recording an interview, denied any charges.

On the same subject, in January of this year, the deputy also denied being in collusion with officials of the Cooperative Lar Patriota and accused the leaders of the association Ana Ndengue and Bairro Honga of “defamators”.
